Unit 4 Project
This is Derrick Davis' unit 4 project for IT247-02 Fundamentals of Web Graphics at Kaplan University. In the near future it will contain retouched images and manipulations for my Photoshop CS4 portfolio.Portfolio of Derrick Davis
This is the first page of my e-portfolio containing my logo header. For the header I used three images: a blue computer chip, a keyboard and a Mustang with smoking rear tires. The very first thing I did was to create a new file sized at 1024x250pixels, the overall space of the header image. I then inserted the blue chip on the right hand side of the space, made a copy of it and placed it to the left giving the space a look of a full chip background. The next point was to change the vibrancies and exposure. This is what was needed to make the color of the blue stand out brightly and to lighten up the background. Following that I then added the Mustang. I created the base layer with all the smoke off of the tires. I then made a second copy of the car and cut the main smoke off of the image but left a streak of smoke behind the tire. Next I made two more copies of the second car layer. I then made an extreme motion blur to the first car to where It was no longer noticeable, i continued to blur all but the last car completely. The next detail was to add the keyboard which was cropped to fit the size of the tall smoke pattern. To give the right side a smoke effect, I smudged the edge to blend with the smoke. Next, lightened it up with the dodge tool and blurred the smoke and the right side of the keyboard together. The final step was to add the text into the image. I used a serpentine letter font for the Triple Diesel Style portion and a sneakout letter font for the "turbocharged" portion. I chose these font because they are stylish while maintaining a professionalism factor as well. I then used a double ring glow around each set of words and changed the colors of the text to stand out against the blue chip background.
